Ice-Breakers - FAQ




Ice-Breaker activities have been around for a long time. They help us laugh with each other and sometimes at ourselves. They relieve stress and tension between group members and assist us in feeling that we are part of a team. The following information defines “Ice-Breaker” and should help us determine whether your group would benefit from this enjoyable experience.

1. WHAT IS AN ICE-BREAKER?


An ice-breaker is an activity designed to help a group know each other better. The activity can last anywhere 45 minutes to an hour.


2. WHO BENEFITS FROM AN ICE-BREAKER?


Newly formed groups, groups that have been together for a long time, and groups with new members can all benefit from ice-breaker activities


3. WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO CONDUCT AN ICE-BREAKER?


An ice-breaker can be conducted at anytime. Let’s say your group is planning a meeting. After discussing the goals of your group, we can determine if the activity should take place in the beginning, middle or at the end of your meeting.


4. WHERE ARE ICE-BREAKERS HELD?


Ice-breakers can be conducted in meeting rooms, classrooms, gymnasiums, convention centers or at parks and playgrounds.


5. HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU NEED?


Ice-breakers can be held for groups of 2 to 2000! It all depends on the size of you group.
